(1) What is your essential question, and what are your answers? What is your best answer and why?
- my essential question is, "How can a speech pathologist best help her patient meet their language development goals?" and my answers are play therapy, early intervention, and parental involvement.I believe my best answer is parental involvement because there are a lot of statistics I have as well as many other facts and information from trusted sources, it is also an answer that is logical and feels more like common sense than the other two.
2) What process did you take to arrive at this answer?
- The process I took to arrive at parental involvement being the best answer is looking back at all the information I have, including the interviews and realizing the importance that the therapist have put on parental involvement. In the interview and during my mentorship, just having conversations with the therapist, they believe pretty heavily in parental involvement.
(3) What problems did you face? How did you resolve them?
- Some problems that I faced were deciding what my three answers would be. I was constantly changing my third answer but while doing my independent component 2 there was a video that involved play therapy and also, my just observing at my mentorships the sessions involved play so I decided to do research and see if play therapy was an actual thing with merit and it was so I ran with it. Aside from that I cannot remember very many problems I encountered.
(4) What are the two most significant sources you used to answer your essential question and why?
- My first significant source is my mentor, her interviews and also being able to speak with her in person.
- My second significant source is the American Speech-Language-Hearing association website.
